The thermostat for the later Gen 3 trucks with the larger petrol V6. It is not the same part as the one fitted to the earlier trucks and it does not open at the same temperature, so the two are not interchangeable however similar they look on a counter. The catalogue page cited below also names two older Mitsubishi numbers this one replaces; both belong to earlier trucks, neither has a page here yet, and the supersession chain on this page is therefore shorter than the real one. Fitting a wrong-temperature thermostat is not a dramatic failure — it is a truck that runs cool, never reaches its map, and quietly costs fuel. The number, the fitment and the count come from the Montero specialist's own catalogue page, cited below — a parts catalogue is good evidence for what a part number is and what it fits, and it is not factory literature, so read every figure on this page as the catalogue's claim rather than as a service-manual specification.
