A valve on top of the fuel tank that lets the tank breathe while keeping liquid fuel from escaping — the part that is meant to seal when the truck is tilted or overfilled. When it stops sealing, the classic sign is a smell of petrol with a full tank, worst when the truck is parked nose-up on a slope, and sometimes a wet patch under the rear. This is the fuel system and a raw-fuel leak is a fire risk, so treat it as a stop-driving fault and have a qualified mechanic find which valve or hose is leaking before you buy anything. The count is not the same across the generation — the earliest trucks carry more than one of this valve where the later trucks carry one, so confirm how many yours takes for your exact year before ordering. The number and the fitment come from a Montero specialist's catalogue and an independent parts catalogue, cited below — good evidence for what a part number is and what it fits, and not factory literature, so read every figure on this page as the catalogue's claim rather than as a service-manual specification.
