The upper ball joint in each front corner, one per side. Like the lower joint it arrives with a new castle nut and cotter pin, and like the lower joint the specialist's advice is genuine only for a truck that carries weight or leaves the pavement. Check both joints on the same day: they wear at similar rates, they are reached through the same disassembly, and finding the second one loose a month after paying for the first is a self-inflicted wound. Ball joints are steering and suspension — if you are not equipped to check the play correctly or to torque the castle nut to the manual's figure, have a qualified mechanic do it.
