The rubber damper and dust boot that sits over each front shock shaft, one per side. It keeps grit off the shaft — which is what decides how long a shock seal lasts on a road that is half gravel — and it takes the hit at the end of upward travel. Read the seller's note before ordering: some replacement shocks arrive with their own damper and boot already fitted and do not need this part, while others do not, so check what is in the box before you buy two of these. It is a rubber part on a truck old enough for every rubber part to be original, so if the strut is apart, look at it.
